Spoilers for Act One below. Play it first if you care.

The Black Noon

Three hundred years ago a Warlock named Erebus spent twenty years hunting one book. He found it in the deepest vault of the Shadow cloister. It was the Book of Shadow and it talked to him.

The voices pushed him to read a spell out loud in front of Queen Ashari's court in Sun City at noon. The sky went black and tore open. Demons came down through the tear and their smoke became the wall everyone calls the Stygian.

The page that would not burn

Tecuani the Lightkeeper chased him to the Dark Water and tore one page out of the Book while he ran. Queen Sekhmet's smiths in the Fire Dominion tried to burn it and couldn't.

Where the pages went

When the demons hit the Book its loose pages blew away down the rivers. Those are the Book fragments you pick up and write into your own spellbook.

Where you are now

The Herald of Ash waits in the Courtyard of Nine Suns with a message three hundred years old. Tecuani is buried under the green in Earth and tells you the rest herself. After that the tear in the sky starts to grow and the hunt for six pieces begins.

That's Act One. This gets updated as new chapters go live.

So the Book of Shadow came out of our cloister. Darklighters are going to be insufferable about this.
Darklighter since the first alpha build

Moon, then flame, then star. Took me 4 tries on the braziers because I lit them in the order they stand.

The mural on the west wall shows the order. Every quest works like that, no markers.

My guess is guilt comes into it later. Probably find out in Sun City.

The story wasn't the main focus originally when I started but it will need to be eventually and I hope for this to improve and grow.
